Under the 3 Series's Hood

Most 2017 BMW 3 Series sedans let you choose between rear- or all-wheel drive. However, the 330e plug-in hybrid automatically comes in rear-wheel drive. Also, if you get a 3 Series wagon then all-wheel drive is standard. The wagon also comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission by default. The standard 320i will get you a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that creates 200 lb-ft of torque and 180 horsepower. For fuel economy with that engine and rear-wheel drive you may expect to get up to 35 miles per gallon (mpg) highway, 23 mpg city and 28 mpg combined. The 330i uses the same turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine as the 320i. For the 320i trim the engine produces 258 lb-ft of torque and 248 horsepower.
